| Just Write! Saturdays, February 20th, 2010 to March 20th, 2010 From 2:00 to 4:00 Cost: $50 (The cost for class is purposefully kept low as the class is offered as a community outreach effort.) A five-week class focused on learning the basics of writing a play and developing your own ten-minute play. Goal – for the writer to come out of the experience with at least one 10-minute play. This class is offered by Onion Man Productions in association with Lionheart Theater Company (www.lionhearttheatre.org). The class is taught by James Beck, creator of Onion Man Productions. Class size limited to 8 people or less, Participants will need something to write with and on. |

| Story Craft for the Stage Instructor, Daphne Mintz Dates: Tuesday nights, 7 to 9 from April 6th to May 11th Cost: $120 The class is focused on developing a full-length stage play from concept or first draft. Topics will include staying true to the writer's vision, powerful storytelling in the logistics, action versus exposition, and finding your audience. Writers should have a basic understanding of the fundamentals of writing for stage play, including format, character and plot development prior to enrolling. All writers must submit 5 pages of the play they plan to work on to determine suitability for the class. Also, writers will be expected to bring the first 5-8 pages of their play in progress to the first class. Daphne Mintz – Daphne’s plays In Lieu of Flowers will be produced by Onion Man in February 2011. Her completed works to date include Next of Kin, produced by Onion Man Productions in the Harvest '09 10-Minute Play Festival, In Lieu of Flowers, produced as a concert reading by Working Title Playwrights at the Actor’s Express, Atlanta, in 2008, Cinnamon Girl, a two-act play produced in 2004 as a staged reading by Little Colored Girl Productions, and The Cinderblock Barmaid, a finalist in the 1997 Sundance Film Festival Screenplay Writing Competition. As a volunteer for Lionheart Theatre’s New Playwright Development Programs, Daphne has produced and moderated five staged readings and provides coaching for Lionheart volunteers interested in playwrighting. She is currently coordinator of Lionheart Theatre’s Make the House Roar Comedy Playwrighting Prize. Daphne won the Best Supporting Actress at the Georgia Theatre Conference 2008 for the role of Bethany in Controlling Interest, produced by Lionheart Theatre in Norcross, and directed by Tanya Carroll, October 2008.
