Now in its third year of operation as a non-profit, Atlanta theatre arts organization, Onion Man Productions is proud to announce a new phase of growth and development. In addition to our existing playwriting classes, Onion Man is now offering acting and directing classes. In doing so, Onion Man begins a process that will lead to the creation of a well-rounded theatre arts education center.

For the 2011 shows, Life is Short! OMP focused its efforts to help the artists working on the show. With a tough economy and theatre companies closing, it was important to support theatre artists. So, Onion Man made sure that all of the artists working on the show at least received some compensation. In addition, OMP continued its tradition of presenting readings of other short plays by local playwrights and provided some free Improv nights and discussions with the artists involved with the show.

• $1 per ticket from Harvest 2010, The Backyard Plays was donated to The Summit Counseling Center's Client Assistance Fund. The Summit Counseling Center in Alpharetta, GA provides individual, couples, and family counseling integrating spirituality and psychotherapy. The Summit provides Client Assistance Funds (CAF) to help supplement the fees of clients who cannot afford the full fee. Learn more at www.summitcounseling.org
  
  
• In association with Lionheart Theatre, Onion Man produced a free reading, open to the public, of Daphne Mintz's play, In Lieu of Flowers.
  
  
• For its Harvest collections of short plays, each year Onion Man offers free readings of new short plays by local playwrights.
  
  
• In October 2009, OMP donated its website for online purchases and to help promote a benefit production of Lillies of the Field. The shows raised money for the Peachtree Elementary Emergency Fund. 

• For Harvest '09, A New Crop of 10-Minute Plays, OMP donated $1 per ticket to Erasing the Distance. Erasing the Distance generates awareness, disarms stigma, and ignites the healing process by  creating and performing professional theatrical productions based on the true stories of people's experiences with mental illness; holding facilitated dialogues after every performance so that audience members can ask questions in a safe forum; providing information and resources from such respected organizations as NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) so people can access help if they need it.
  
  
• In February '09, OMP donated $1 per ticket from A Weekend of One-Act Plays to the Community Involvement Committee through Georgia's Own Credit Union.  The program adopts families during the holidays, supports an annual Special Citizen's Holiday Party for mentally challenged kids and adults and supports Children's Health Care of Atlanta.
